Megan and Brandon are New York City locals who envisioned an elegant summer destination wedding in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and I think it’s safe to say their vision was brought to life. Along with their guests, they truly made the most of what the area has to offer, with the Omni Mount Washington as their venue and host. Over the course of the day, we experienced true New England: waterfalls, rainbows, sunshine, rain – all set against the backdrop of the White Mountain range.
I first met Megan and Brandon for their sunrise engagement session in NYC, where we took advantage of the mostly empty Brooklyn Bridge to stroll our way from Brooklyn to Manhattan. Both lawyers with extremely demanding jobs, I could tell that they were so excited for their destination wedding away from the city.
On the wedding day, we woke up to brilliant sunshine after a forecast promising rain, and with coffee in hand, Brittney and I went on a scout eager to find unique portrait spots. After some exploring and a helpful conversation with the concierge, we made a plan to go off-property, and I am so glad we did! We found windy forested pathways, waterfalls, and a little world tucked away from everything else. I could have spent all afternoon creating more portraits if we didn’t have to get Megan and Brandon back!
The couple worked with Melanie of Blissful Beginnings to create the perfect elegant summer wedding fete; a morning ceremony with the most meaningful, intentional vows that brought everyone, including me, to tears, followed by mimosas and mingling before giving guests the afternoon off to enjoy a leisurely lunch and explore the area. They returned to a cocktail hour and evening of dinner and dancing in the stunning, contemporary Crystal Hill, atop the summit of Bretton Woods and overlooking the Omni Mount Washington resort. As guests made their way up on the gondola (some by car, as lightening got in the way of running it the entire evening!) they were treated to cocktails, seafood, and a rainbow.
After a five-course meal, everyone hit the dance floor and we stole Megan and Brandon away to take advantage of the post-rain blue light. I know many of our couples often ask about weather and how we manage it, and I can honestly say that I always welcome the challenge. It gives us another opportunity to stretch our creative muscles and for you to be with each other, to take in the day, your guests, and to see everything you’ve been planning come to life.
