A Great Gatsby-themed NYC Affair

Gretchen and Jeff are the kind of couple I’d want to be friends with: they love good times with great friends, excellent food and wine, and throwing a killer party with both of those things present. I photographed their lakeside New Hampshire micro wedding in 2020 and even with only six guests in attendance, they hosted a warm, vibrant, and truly fun wedding, so when they invited me back to photograph their Great Gatsby-themed wedding celebration at the Antique Loft in Hoboken, with sweeping views of NYC, incredible tunes spun by DJ June, and a night of cocktails, a delicious menu, and a dance party to rival all dance parties, I wasn’t surprised that every detail was creative and thoughtful. These two can HANG, and partied late into the evening with their crew.

One of my favorite things about my job is the experiences I get to have via the people I photograph; all kinds of design, style, and decor visions, so much good food, a variety of musical tastes, and most importantly, the relationships I get to witness. If there’s one thing that stood out to me (besides the sweet New York skyline) at this celebration is how much Gretchen and Jeff’s family and friends adore them, and vice versa. I often think (and say) that the details are secondary to the emotions, love, and stories that are shared at an event like this, and I do believe that, but sometimes, the details themselves are an impeccable piece of the story. This was one of those weddings.
