A Luxury New England Wedding at Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club

I knew from the first five minutes of my inquiry call with Ethan and Andrea that we were each other’s people. Their wedding day and wedding photography vision was clear: they wanted a fun, classy, authentic yet luxury New England wedding, full of people they love. When they told me how they met, they described it as “the Pitch Perfect movie:” two opposing a cappella teams and a love story at the end of it. What resulted was, for lack of a better description, the most epic luxury wedding rager I’ve ever seen, with performances from both of them separately and together, and an impeccably well-dressed crowd of friends and family that cheered them on so hard, it was impossible not to feel the love bursting out of Jimmy’s Jazz and Blues Club.

If I have to choose one thing I love most about Andrea and Ethan, it’s their humble confidence and the way that they focused on all the right things on their wedding day, which made being their wedding photographer easy. They trusted me completely, which gave us the opportunity to document all the beautiful in between moments, as well as the big ones, with ease. From getting ready in the morning to the first look at Prescott Park in downtown Portsmouth, NH, the sweet, humorous ceremony, officiated by one of Ethan’s college professors, to the cocktail hour at The Museum of New Art at Jimmy’s, where Andrea’s girlfriends were so happy to see her, to Ethan and Andrea’s incredible performances alongside their band, Soul City. The way they treat each other and everyone they cross paths with is remarkable and I can’t rave about their gorgeous wedding day enough.

Their decor details, which emphasized the already stunning and historic interior of Jimmy’s, featured florals from Wild Valentine and achieved Andrea and Ethan’s elegant yet summery vision. During a tasting at Jimmy’s, Ethan, when asked what kind of cake they’d like, jokingly asked if they can make an upside down wedding cake. While their cake wasn’t upside down, the baker did make them a personalized, twinkle lit upside down cake, surprising them with it at their table. Everything was planned with intention yet executed effortlessly and if there’s one detail that stood out to me most, it was Ethan and Andrea’s rings, inscribed with the words “we have fun,” which couldn’t “ring” more true.
